Roots of Empathy- Fourth Family Visit πΆπ»
Today, we had the privilege of hosting Jan Gaudet from Roots of Empathy. Jan works with Roots of Empathy in Canada, and was delighted to join Miss McAlister and Primary 5 for their fourth family visit based on ‘emotions and feelings’.
Roots of Empathy is an evidence-based classroom programme which started in Toronto, Canada. It consists of guided observations of an infant's development and emotions by primary school children. The project began in 1996, and was established by Mary Gordon, a Canadian social entrepreneur and educator.
Jan was very impressed with our Primary 5 children and was pleased to see the programme working so well in our classroom.
Jan also had the opportunity to meet some of our previous Roots of Empathy babies who are now pupils in school. Together they are pictured alongside Mrs O’Kane.
A huge thank you to Baby Ruby and her mum Ashley for volunteering their time to take part in this programme, it is great to have it back in Saint Brigid’s P.S. Primary 5 look forward to seeing Ruby each month and love watching her grow and develop π
